Honda has introduced its next-generation fuel cell module at the 23rd International Hydrogen & Fuel Cell Expo in Tokyo.
This cutting-edge technology boasts a 50% reduction in production costs, twice the lifespan, and three times higher power density.
The compact unit (28.7" × 27.5" × 22.8") weighs just 550 lbs, making it easier to install. With an impressive 59.8% efficiency and a voltage output of 450-850V, it operates seamlessly in extreme conditions — from -30°C to 60°C — and altitudes up to 3,500 m.
Honda plans to roll out 300 CR-V models equipped with this fuel cell in California. Meanwhile, Toyota claims the new module offers 20% more range and will also power heavy-duty commercial vehicles.
