The Itarim Gods existed before time itself, the same race the Absolute Being came from. After its death, Earth caught the eyes of the Outer Gods an unclaimed world overflowing with mana. Now, every Itarim is fighting to take it.

 

When the Rulers discover that the entire Itarim race is after Earth, they band together to fight these celestial beings. But while they once managed to kill a single Outer God the Absolute Being in Solo Leveling—they have no chance against multiple Itarim Gods.

 

Luckily for them, Jinwoo joins the battle with his Shadow Army. In other words, he's the only one strong enough to protect Earth from the Itarim. But there's a catch Jinwoo can’t return home while waging this war.

 

That’s why we only see him through Suho’s memories in Solo Leveling: Ragnarok. Sure, Jinwoo’s name comes up plenty, especially from Beru, and Suho even encounters an image of his father. But whether father and son will truly reunite? That’s still up in the air.
