Researchers at Osaka Metropolitan University have created smart autonomous robots to help strawberry farmers facing labor shortages. These robots are built to move through high-bed farms using LiDAR tech and a custom algorithm, making them perfect for strawberry harvesting.
They come with two movement modes — one to drive directly to a location, and another to carefully follow along raised beds, even on rough ground. This helps them move precisely where needed during harvesting.
But these robots aren’t just for picking strawberries. They can also monitor crops, handle pruning, and even assist with watering, bringing us closer to fully automated farming that saves time and reduces the hard work for farmers.
